February 6 at 7 p.m.
It was 11 years ago that Randy Couture (17-10 MMA; 14-7 UFC) was scheduled to fight Mark Coleman (16-9 MMA; 7-4 UFC), but had to cancel due to an injury. The two veteran fighters and former champions hadn’t been matched since—until now, that is. Their bout, more than a decade in the making, is the main event for “UFC 109: Relentless†that will take place at Mandalay Bay on February 6. Both fighters are well matched in every capacity including age—Couture is 45 and Coleman is 46—which in fighting terms, means that neither guy is a spring chicken. Other fighters on the main event card include Mike Swick vs. Paulo Thiaggo, Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller, Nate Marquardt vs. Chael Sonnen and Matt Serra vs. Frank Trigg. The preliminary fight card includes six other matches as well. The event will be shown live on pay-per-view, but tickets are available for those who want to be in the presence of some of the greatest mixed martial artists of this generation.
Prices range from $50 to $600 and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com.
