According to Wikipedia, the definition of “flip cup†is a relay drinking game that originated on college campuses. Well, this constructive pastime has grown in popularity so much that not only has an association been created, but a tournament as well. Sixty-four flip cup teams from across the United States will descend on Las Vegas for the World’s Largest Flip Cup Tournament (WLFCT) at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11. The event, which consists primarily of 20- to 30-somethings, will be hosted at Hooter’s Casino. And yes, the calendar girls will be present on the big day to cheer for those who choose to drink for sport (probably even louder for those who puke). Team registration and tickets can be purchased at www.FlipCupGuys.com. Registration is $30 per person and each team must have six players; the spectator fee is $25. Both fees include admission to the tournament, a three-hour open beer bar and free beer during the tournament. The grand prize is a 7-night spring break package to Negril, Jamaica. The tournament survivor champion will be awarded a cruise for two from Tampa, Fla., to Grand Cayman, April 15-19, 2010, which also is the venue for a music festival featuring 3 Doors Down, Lifehouse, Shinedown and more. The second-annual WLFCT is organized by Flip Cup Guys in conjunction with the World Adult Kickball Association’s (www.kickball.com) 12th Annual Founder’s Cup World Championship that will take place on Saturday, Oct. 10.
