Elvis was, is and probably always will be known as The King, especially if Las Vegas has anything to do with it. And it’s certainly doing its part to keep his memory alive. An Elvis tribute show, performed by Cirque du Soleil, will be opening at the ARIA Resort & Casino at CityCenter. Opening in December, the show will feature Cirque du Soleil performers twisting, contorting, bending and dancing to a compilation of Presley’s songs. And, oh yes, there is more. Vincent Paterson, the choreographer and director (who also has worked with Madonna), has interjected moments of acting that will be spoken in English. The purpose of adding this unusual twist to a Cirque du Soleil show is to ensure the audience gets to know Presley and understand his relationships with both his mother and manager. Over the course of Presley’s musical career, it was estimated that 1 billion record units were sold. Also, more than 150 different albums and records have been certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The official name of the show will be announced later this year. Yes, folks, Elvis is alive.
